We exist to say yes to Jesus in every area of our lives.

OUR MISSION

How Our "Yes" is Informed

  • When someone receives Jesus for salvation through faith in Him, He gives us His promised Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit serves, in part, to lead us to understand how to say yes to Jesus in every area of our lives.

    • “If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Advocate, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.” John 14:15-17 NLT

    • “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Philippians 2:13 NLT

  • The Bible is God’s love letter to us to not only reveal the heart and character of God but to shape and inform our yes to Jesus in every area of our lives. The Bible informs our yes in matters of our spirituality but also our relationships, finances, our work, sexuality, pursuits, dreams, and desires.

    • “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.” 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT

  • Our yes to Jesus is also refined and shaped within the context of our relationships within Biblical community. As we learn to know and love each other in relationship and community, our collective influence on one another is an experience that informs our yes to Jesus through wisdom, new perspectives, love, and care for one another.

    • “Two people are better off than one, for they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But someone who falls alone is in real trouble. A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.” Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, 12 NLT

    • “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.” Hebrews 10:24 NLT

    • “As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” Proverbs 27:17 NLT

OUR STRATEGY

1) CONNECT

Get Connected
We all have the opportunity to exchange our lives for the life of Christ. When we do, we're connected to God in a powerful way. We want to help everyone understand their new identity  in Christ and how it connects with everyday life.

2) COMMUNITY

Engage in Community
We aren't meant to face life's challenges and celebrate life's joys on our own — we need each other.  A significant part of saying yes to Jesus is building relationships and growing together so we encourage every person to engage in biblical community.

3) CALLING

Pursue Your Calling
All of us have a part to play in the story God is telling. How has He gifted you?  Where is He inviting you to serve? We believe that everyone can answer those questions and find a place to live out the calling God has given you.

OUR STORY

Expanding the Vision...

In August of 2019, Pastor David Martin was brought on as Lead Pastor at Grace Point West and the church experienced God's blessings through steady growth and significant influence in the city of San Antonio.

How it all Started...

Great Oaks Fellowship is a church plant of Grace Point Church, a church started in November 1992 as a mission of Castle Hills First Baptist Church, with a vision to reach the growing population of San Antonio. In the summer of 2014, Grace Point opened a second location on San Antonio's far west side, near 1604 W and Shaenfield Rd - the Grace Point West Campus.

Where We are Now...

On September 11, 2022, Grace Point West stepped into its new season as an autonomous church - Great Oaks Fellowship!

Great Oaks Fellowship's influence is realized through exchanged lives, baptisms, student ministry, kids' ministry, adult ministries, life groups, and local and global missions. Great Oaks' staff and members are committed to a comfortable, lifestyle evangelism—an ongoing pursuit of saying yes to Jesus in every area of our lives.
